To Ski or Not to Ski
i won't lie...this blog entry is purely a distraction from my Java coursework, but it's about time anyway.
So...following my superb skiing holiday and subsequent re-kindling and enhancing of my love for the sport i am making plans to head to New Zealand with Dan, Esti and James for the summer. My skiing is at a sufficient level that i wont get bored, as i intend to stay for 2-3 months over the summer. The aim is to find a job, as there's no chance in hell i can afford to go without one!
However on the subject of money, I do feel it's time i stopped scaffing equipment and buy my own, but there is one increasingly important question in my mind: do i buy ski's or a snowboard?
I've now clocked 8 hours on the dry slope on a board, far less than i've skiied, but i think (and Dan agrees :) ) that i've got sufficient potential for it not to be a waste of money!
It's important to realise that currently i cant afford either, so that does make the answer a bit easier for the time being, but some serious thought will need to be executed in the next 3 weeks!

Dear Ian,
If you end up going to NZ, that would be fecking awesome, but it's going to be a bloody arse flying home all the time so we can go punting in Cambs.
As for the original question set out at the beggining of the essay, I would have to say that the choice surely must depend on several factors:
+ The resort you are going to - is it based around skiing or boarding?
+ The quality of skies or board you could get for the same money.
+ Thirdly I don't really give a toss as you have made no attempt to invite me.
Well I hope I have helped answer your question.
Yours sincerely,
Joe

You'd most likely regret buying skis. I know lots of people who have emigrated from skis to board, but not the other way around.
Get whichever you enjoy most - bearing in mind you most definetly have the tool-arsenal to turn a board into skis...

this tool, i assume you just mean a feck-off circular saw down the middle. I dunno, i've got some pretty powerful glue for skis > board you know.
Loved your 'quality of skies', Joe. someone's missing their airliners subscription ;)
you are also invited. grab your oars, you're coming too.
